  • You find yourself ruminating about family medical history.

When Every Unfamiliar Sensation Stirs Panic - Therapy in Oakland & Throughout California

You try not to think about it, but the worries are buzzing in the background.

A headache that lingers a little too long. A strange pain in your side. A new mole. Heart palpitations. Why are the bottoms of your feet itching, anyway?

Before you know it, your mind is racing ahead to every possible explanation and none of them are good.

Then you ask ChatGPT or Claude about your symptoms, swear you'll stop, and then do it again. You ask for reassurance, but it only helps for a little while before the doubt creeps back in.

It makes sense.

You don’t feel heard at the doctor’s office - often rushed and certainly not cared about. At times you may have felt dismissed or even gaslit.

You may find yourself:

  • Fixating on every change in your body.

  • Reeling from a new chronic health diagnosis.

  • Avoiding the doctor’s office all together.

  • Overwhelmed by all the changing health directives for midlife women.

  • Ruminating about weight, body image and metabolic health.

  • Questioning whether your mental health has impacted your physical health.

  • Watching a parent get sick, lost someone you love, or have a family history that makes every mammogram, colonoscopy, blood test, or doctor's appointment feel impossibly high stakes.

Instead of feeling cared for by the healthcare system, you feel trapped by it. There always seems to be another screening, another specialist, another test, another decision to make. Part of you is terrified they'll find something. Another part is terrified they'll tell you everything is "normal" while you continue feeling scared and alone.

You don't want your life to revolve around your health. You just want to know when to listen to your body, when to trust your doctor, and when it's okay to exhale.

How I Help - Therapy in California for Women with Health & Medical Anxiety

You deserve more than the continued worries and fears around your health and getting the care you deserve.

If you’ve made it this far, I see you. Seeking support is brave. And I’m here to help. My approach is collaborative and tailored to your goals. I won’t try to convince you your fears or irrational or tell you to just stop worrying.

Maybe you want to explore your past health-related experiences and how they’ve contributed to the anxiety you feel now.

Maybe you want to learn strategies for to calm and center when your mind floods with thoughts of worst case scenarios.

Or maybe you want to focus on a plan so you feel confident navigating the medical system.

I’m here for all of it.

Because I work extensively with women in midlife, I also understand the unique challenges of navigating perimenopause and menopause. Many clients come to therapy trying to figure out which symptoms deserve medical follow-up, how to advocate for themselves with healthcare providers, and how to cope with a body that suddenly feels unpredictable.

Our work is hormone-informed and grounded in evidence-based psychology, while also honoring the emotional and existential questions that often arise during this stage of life.

Depending on your needs, we may draw from mindfulness, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), somatic approaches, self-compassion, narrative therapy, expressive arts, or other integrative approaches. Rather than simply trying to eliminate anxiety, we'll build your capacity to tolerate uncertainty, reconnect with your body's wisdom, and respond thoughtfully instead of reactively.

Therapy is also a place to process the larger questions that health concerns often awaken.

How do I live fully while knowing I'm not invincible?

How do I care for my health without becoming consumed by it?

How do I make peace with the fact that I can't control everything?

These are deeply human questions, and you don't have to navigate them alone.

Moving Beyond Health & Medical Anxiety - Therapy for Midlife Women in Oakland and throughout California

Imagine waking up without immediately scanning your body for symptoms or scheduling a medical appointment without spiraling for weeks beforehand.

You’re able to receive routine health screenings because they feel like acts of self-care rather than evidence that something terrible is about to happen.

Instead of endlessly researching symptoms or chasing certainty, you develop confidence in your ability to make thoughtful medical decisions, ask good questions, and advocate for yourself when needed. You begin to recognize the difference between anxiety and intuition.

You also learn how to care deeply about your health without organizing your entire life around preventing catastrophe.

As your relationship with your body begins to shift, you may find yourself reconnecting with parts of life that anxiety had hijacked. That may mean traveling without worrying about getting sick, making future plans again, exercising because it feels good rather than because you're trying to outrun illness, or simply being more present with the people you love.

Your body becomes something to partner with instead of something to constantly monitor. And a weight is lifted.

But perhaps most importantly, you begin reclaiming the mental space that anxiety (and broken medical systems) have occupied for far too long and live a life guided by the things that matter most to you.

When you’re ready to get started, I’d love to support you.
