Holistic Trauma Treatment for Women

- Online Feminist Therapy in California -

Welcome! I know reaching out for help can be hard. Especially when you’ve experienced harm. And even more so when you’ve had to get by on your own for so long. Still, you are courageous. You’ve found your way here and I’m so glad.

Who I work with

I work with women in California just like you who have experienced or are experiencing trauma. Women who are ready to heal.

Trauma Can Mean Many Things

Trauma can mean many things, so I want to take a moment to explain. Many folks don’t even realize they have had a traumatic experience.

In short: Trauma is an event or experience resulting in physical harm; emotional harm; and/or life-threatening harm.

Trauma Is More Than PTSD

Historically, we’ve associated trauma with those who have a formal PTSD diagnosis. This may pertain to people who have survived sexual assault or veterans on active duty, for example. But the truth is trauma can be, and often is, more insidious.

Here are some (not all) the ways in which women may experience trauma:

  • Gender/Racial Discrimination (and other forms of identity oppression)

  • Body shaming - Diet Culture

  • Manipulative/emotionally abusive relationships

  • Sudden loss of a relationship

  • Rape Culture

  • Childhood neglect, physical, and emotional abuse, as well as inconsistent caregiving

  • Community Violence

  • Natural Disasters / Pandemics

  • Health/Medical Issues

  • Unhealthy patterns passed down through the family (Intergenerational Trauma)

  • Historical traumas such as genocide and slavery

  • Complex Trauma - ongoing traumas in multiple domains

Common Responses To Trauma

In turn, people often report feeling constantly on edge or unsafe.

Some have night terrors, relational issues, and difficulty managing strong emotions or difficulty feeling just about anything.

Many others will space out or have developed ways of coping that have started to hinder their goals and dreams. This may look like isolation, substance use, or self-harming behaviors.

There is Hope With Trauma Treatment For Women in California

While these are common responses to trauma, know that this doesn’t have to be the end of the story. With support, it is possible to recover a feeling of safety, ease, and connection in your life.

How I work

First and foremost I strive to create a comfortable space for women to share what they feel like sharing when they feel like sharing it. There is no timeline or pressure to process trauma.

I Will Meet You Where You Are

I’ll meet you where you are emotionally and together we’ll come up with a care plan that feels right for you.

A Holistic and Integrative Approach to Trauma Treatment in California

My approach to trauma treatment is holistic and integrative. This includes tending to matters of the mind, body, and spirit. Working holistically is important because, like anxiety, trauma tends to take up residence in all three of these areas.

I offer practices from an integrative toolkit that includes, but is not limited to:

-       Narrative Therapy for working with thoughts and behaviors

-       Expressive Arts Therapy for processing emotions and experiences

-       Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) for working with strong emotions

-       Spiritually-Integrated Therapy for self-inquiry and accessing intuition

-       Somatic Interventions for addressing physical symptoms and calming the nervous system

Why I do the work I do

Ultimately, I believe that trauma work is sacred. It is the work of deep healing and reclaiming parts of ourselves that have been fractured or lost, and of writing the next chapter.

I would be honored to help. Reach out today for a complimentary 20-minute consultation or schedule here. I look forward to chatting with you soon!
