Therapy for Women

Who I work with

In my practice, I support self-identified women from a range of cultural backgrounds and intersecting identities.

Without a doubt my clients are powerhouses, though they don’t usually feel that way when we begin our work together. Their energy is diminished by the fatigue, worry and stress that can come with both life-changing events and day-to-day-living.

Does any of this sound familiar?
  • You take pride in knowing how to navigate tough situations, in fact you’re probably the go-to for your friends and family, but you have trouble asking for support.
  • You’ve got a stack of of self-help books on your bedside table, listen to all the right podcasts, and do all the things that should  be helpful and still, you have that sinking feeling …
  • Deep down you question your place in the world, or your value, and you’re sick of feeling that way.
  • You’ve learned how to walk on eggshells or code switch with grace, but you’re worried you’re either too much or not enough - all the freakin’ time.
  • You don’t know how to carry the power or privilege dynamics you’re confronted with every day.
  • You feel haunted by your past and are always on high alert.
  • You’re tired in your bones, soul, core … and  you want more. You're ready to make a change.

How I work

I believe it's possible to move from survival mode to a place of ease, where you can actually thrive, live your purpose and find your joy. Even in these challenging times.

You might be wondering what therapy with me looks like, and it’s a good question. Working from a feminist lens, I am here as an ally and co-explorer. Historically, therapy entailed a whole lot of judgement of clients and the expectation that therapists should be quiet and nod a lot. Feminist therapy is different, and so am I.

While I bring the clinical expertise, you are the expert on your own life and our collaboration in healing is everything. I show up as a real person and believe that everyone is doing the best they can, when they can.

I’ll help you identify your strengths, cultivate your inner and outer resources and make concrete plans that are in line with your goals. Working from a feminist lens also means acknowledging social, cultural and political context and identifying ways to navigate that context (i.e. your world). At the same time, I use a mix of out-of-the-box and evidenced-based practices to help my clients get where they want to be. This may mean using creative expression; unpacking the stories we tell ourselves (and the stories we've inherited); or coming up with action plans to change behavior or circumstances.

Whatever your struggles, whatever your goals, we work as a team. I'm in this with you - warm, direct and transparent in the process. And I love the work I do.
